Machine Selecting Using Integrated SWARA – TOPSIS Method: Application in A Manufacturing Company

Abstract. Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines have become one of the most important equipments for efficient, fast and reliable production in today's production companies. There are many alternatives available for companies to purchase CNC machines. However, when choosing the CNC machine that will meet the expectations of the companies at the highest level, it is determined in the studies conducted in the literature that the wrong decisions can be made if they move only according to the cost. The choice of CNC machine, in a sense, is a multi- criteria decision-making process. The purpose of this study is to select the CNC machine, which will provide optimum utilization for a production company, by using the integrated SWARA -TOPSIS method. Implementation study was conducted in a production company operating in Aydın. In this company which planned to buy a CNC machine, it was determined that while the relative selection criteria for CNC were "Flexibility", "Reliability", "Safety", "Ease of Use", "After-Sales Service", and "Efficiency", the non-relative selection criterion was “cost”. A group including five decision makers was formed to determine the criterion weights and evaluate the CNC machines according to relative criteria. Significance level of the criteria was determined by the decision makers ranking them so that the most important one is the first. Criterion weights were determined by using SWARA application steps with the help of the obtained data. Then, decision makers taking the relative criteria into consideration performed the evaluation process of the alternative CNC machines. For the non-relative “Cost” criterion, price quotation for each alternative CNC machine was obtained. By evaluating all the obtained values with TOPSIS method, optimum CNC machine was suggested to the company.

BÜTÜNLEŞİK SWARA–TOPSIS YÖNTEMİ İLE MAKİNE SEÇİMİ: BİR ÜRETİM İŞLETMESİNDE UYGULAMA

Özet. Günümüz üretim işletmelerinde verimli, hızlı ve güvenilir üretim için CNC (Bilgisayarlı Nümerik Kontrol - Computer Numerical Control) makineleri en önemli teçhizatlardan biri haline gelmiştir. İşletmelerin CNC makinesi satın alımlarında, işletme için uygun olan birçok alternatif bulunabilmektedir. Ancak, işletmelerin beklentilerini en üst seviyede karşılayacak CNC makinesini seçerken, sadece maliyete göre hareket etmeleri durumunda hatalı kararlar alabildiği, alanda yapılan çalışmalar neticesinde tespit edilmiştir. CNC makinesinin seçimi, bir anlamda çok kriterli karar verme işlemidir. Bu çalışmada amaç, bir üretim işletmesi için optimum faydayı sağlayacak CNC makinesinin bütünleşik SWARA –TOPSIS yöntemiyle seçilmesidir. Uygulama çalışması, Aydın’da faaliyet gösteren bir üretim işletmesinde yapılmıştır. CNC makinesi satın almayı planlayan bu işletmede, CNC için göreceli seçim kriterleri “Esneklik”, “Güvenilirlik”, “Güvenlik”, “Kullanım Kolaylığı”, “Satış Sonrası Servis” ve “Verimlilik”; göreceli olmayan seçim kriteri de “Maliyet” olarak belirlenmiştir. Kriter ağırlıklarını belirleyecek ve CNC makinelerini göreceli kriterlere göre değerlendirecek beş karar vericiden oluşan bir grup oluşturulmuştur. Karar vericiler tarafından en önemlisi ilk sırada olacak şekilde kriterleri sıralayarak, kriterler arası önem düzeyleri belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler yardımıyla SWARA uygulama adımları kullanılarak kriter ağırlıkları ortaya konulmuştur. Daha sonra, göreceli kriterleri göz önünde bulunduran karar vericiler alternatif CNC makinelerinin değerlendirme işlemini yapmıştır. Göreceli olmayan “Maliyet” kriteri için her bir alternatif CNC makinesi için fiyat teklifi alınmıştır. Elde edilen tüm değerler TOPSIS yöntemi ile değerlendirilerek, işletme için optimum olan CNC makinesi işletmeye önerilmiştir.

DETERMINING IMPORTANCE LEVELS OF INTERN STUDENT ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA BY SWARA METHOD: A RESEARCH ON HUMAN RESOURCES ASSOCIATE STUDENTS

Abstract. This study is to determine the weight of the criteria, which are important for the students, studying in Human Resources Management Associate Degree Program of the universities, to be accepted as intern in Human Resources department of companies during their compulsory summer internships, by using SWARA method and thus to be guiding for what criteria should be focused in the education of the students who want to do their internships in the companies which are pioneers in the sector. The study was conducted with mid- and lower level managers (decision makers) in the Human Resources department having a role in the pre-evaluation of the internship applications of the companies which are in leading position in their sectors. In the study, firstly, each decision maker ranked the criteria by placing the most important one as the first, and then they revealed the significance levels among the criteria. Finally, the significance levels (weights) of the criteria were determined as a result of the calculation of the data obtained from the decision makers by using the SWARA method. According to the results of SWARM method, the most important criterion is "the desire to practice internship of the intern candidate", the second most important criterion is "the suitability to work of the intern candidate" and third most important criterion is "general appearance / first impression of the intern candidate".

İşletmelerin Stajyer Öğrenci Kabul Kriterlerine İlişkin Önem Düzeylerinin SWARA Yöntemi ile Belirlenmesi: İnsan Kaynakları Önlisans Öğrencileri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Özet. Üniversitelerin İnsan Kaynakları Yönetimi Önlisans Programında okumakta olan öğrencilerin, zorunlu yaz stajlarında şirketlerin İnsan Kaynakları biriminde stajyer olarak kabul edilmeleri için önem arz eden kriterlerin ağırlıklarının SWARA yöntemi ile belirlenmesi ve böylece sektörde öncü konumda olan şirketlerde staj yapmak isteyen öğrencilerin eğitimlerinde hangi kriterlere ağırlık vermesi gerektiği konusunda yol göstermektir. Uygulama, sektörlerinde lider konumda olan şirketlerin stajyer başvurularının ön değerlendirmesinde rol alan İnsan Kaynakları departmanındaki görevli yöneticiler (Uzmanlar) ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada öncelikle her bir uzman, kriterleri en önemlisi ilk sırada olacak şekilde sıralamış, daha sonra kriterler arası önem düzeylerini ortaya koymuştur. Son olarak, uzmanlardan elde edilen verilerin SWARA yöntemi ile hesaplanması sonucunda kriterlerin önem düzeyleri (ağırlıkları) belirlenmiştir. SWARA yöntemi ile yapılan değerlendirme sonucuna göre en önemli kriterin “stajyer adayının staj yapma isteğindeki davranış” olduğu; ikinci en önemli kriterin “stajyer adayının işe uygunluğu” ve üçüncü en önemli kriterin ise “stajyer adayının genel görünümü/ilk izlenimi” olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

EVALUATION OF SERVICE QUALITY OF HOTEL AND HOLIDAY RESERVATION WEB SITES IN TURKEY BY INTEGRATED SWARA - GRAY RELATIONSHIP ANALYSIS METHOD

Abstract. With the development and widespread use of technology, the rate of Internet use in the world is rapidly increasing. It has made our life even easier as almost all of our daily needs are met through the internet. The widespread use of the Internet has influenced many sectors and has also influenced the tourism industry, enabling many online hotels and holiday booking websites to emerge. Hotels and holiday booking websites have provided facilities for hotel and holiday selection, and offer many opportunities to compare alternatives. However, the issue of which booking website is best for individuals who make a reservation plan is a matter of multi-criteria decision making. In this study, it was aimed to determine the importance levels (weights) of the criteria to be used in preference of holiday reservation web sites by using SWARA method and to include the criteria weights in the process and to evaluate alternative holiday reservation websites in Turkey using Gray Relational Analysis method. In addition, the service quality of seven hotels and holiday booking websites operating in Turkey has been tried to be evaluated. The most important criterion that consumers use to make site reservation for hotels and holiday over the Internet is "reliability". In addition, the hotel and holiday booking companies have been evaluated in terms of service quality and "TATILBUDUR.COM" among the web sites was the first place.

Türkiye’deki Otel ve Tatil Rezervasyon Web Sitelerinin Hizmet Kalitesinin Bütünleşik SWARA- Gri İlişkisel Analiz Yöntemi İle Değerlendirilmesi

Özet. Teknolojinin gelişmesi ve yaygınlaşması ile birlikte dünyada internet kullanım oranı büyük bir hızla artmaktadır. Günlük yaşantımızda neredeyse tüm ihtiyaçlarımızın internet aracılığıyla karşılanıyor olması hayatımızı daha da kolay hale getirmiştir. İnternet kullanımının bu kadar yaygınlaşması birçok sektörü etkilediği gibi, turizm sektörünü de etkileyerek, çok sayıda online otel ve tatil rezervasyon web sitesinin ortaya çıkmasını sağlamıştır. Otel ve tatil rezervasyon web siteleri, otel ve tatil seçimlerinde bireylere kolaylıklar sağlamış ve alternatifleri karşılaştırmak için birçok imkân tanımıştır. Ancak, rezervasyon planı yapan bireyler için hangi rezervasyon web sitesinin en iyisi olduğu konusu çok kriterli karar verme problemidir. Bu çalışmada, tatil rezervasyon web sitelerinin tercih edilmesinde kullanılacak kriterlerin önem düzeyleri (ağırlıkları) SWARA yöntemi ile belirlenerek, kriter ağırlıklarının da sürece dahil edilmesi ile Türkiye’deki alternatif tatil rezervasyon web sitelerinin Gri İlişkisel Analiz yöntemi ile değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ayrıca, Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren yedi otel ve tatil rezervasyon web sitesinin hizmet kalitesi değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Tüketicilerin İnternet üzerinden otel ve tatil rezervasyonu yapmak için site tercih ederken önem verdikleri kriterler arasında en önemli faktör “güvenilirlik” olarak belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, otel ve tatil rezervasyonu yapan işletmelerin hizmet kalitesi açısından değerlendirilmesi yapılmış ve web siteleri arasında “TATILBUDUR.COM” sitesinin ilk sırada olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
